A Caroline Flack documentary will explore the final months of her life

Five years on from her tragic death, a new documentary will examine the final months of Caroline Flack’s life, led by her mother Christine.

The Love Island host died by suicide in 2020, after being charged with assaulting her boyfriend and stepping down from her job on the dating reality TV show two months previously. Her passing sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry, spearheading a #BeKind social media campaign due to the fact she was heavily criticised online for the assault.

Here’s what we know so far about the new Caroline Flack documentary.

What is the new Caroline Flack documentary about?

The working title for the documentary is Caroline, and will see her mum Christine endeavour to understand what really happened in the final months of Caroline’s life.

“I still have so many questions about what happened to Caroline in her final months, and it’s something I feel deeply compelled to explore, even though I know it will be challenging,” Christine has said. This will also be something of a continuation from Channel 4’s previous 2021 documentary Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death. Produced by the same production company Curious Films, the first documentary acted a tribute to Caroline, also exploring the impact of fame, mental health issues and social media had on her life.

“I’m pleased to be working with the team at Curious Films once again, in the hope of bringing clarity and understanding to Carrie’s story – not just for her, but for everyone who cared about her,” Christine has said.

The documentary will include interviews with other members of Caroline’s family and friends and – according to its producers – “search for answers” when it comes to what led to her death.

“It’s not often that you feel the need to return to a subject, but nearly five years after Caroline’s tragic death, we know there are still many unanswered questions for Christine and her family that need to be addressed,” Dov Freedman, executive producer for both the documentary and at Curious Films, has said. “We’re proud to be collaborating with the Flack family once again, working together to seek some form of resolution to the tragic events surrounding Caroline’s death.”
