Hollywood darling Cameron Diaz has come out of retirement to bring us new Netflix thriller Back In Action, where she and Jamie Foxx play a married couple whose secret identities are compromised.
This comes after she chose to step back from public life and working in the entertainment industry back in 2018, with her last major role being in 2014’s Annie, which she starred in alongside Foxx.

“It felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life. And I just really didn’t care about anything else. I didn’t. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have,” she explained at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in October last year. “I think it really comes to: What are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family.”
Cameron seems to be back in action herself in the entertainment world, as she is due to star in Jonah Hill’s upcoming black comedy movie Outcome alongside Kaia Gerber, Laverne Cox and Keanu Reeves, too. She’s also set to reprise her role as Princess Fiona in Shrek 5, which is due out in 2026.
She said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon of her return to acting: “It’s a little bit of muscle memory, you know what I mean? I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process — I just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different.”
