Millie Bobby Brown may have started her career as a tween, but now she’s reminding the public that she is no longer the little girl who graced our screens in 2016.
The Stranger Things and Enola Holmes actress posted a trio of mirror selfies to her Instagram feed on December 29, zooming in on her gorgeous engagement and wedding bands, her earrings, and her new Louis Vuitton x Murakami bag. “Me and my mini,” Brown captioned the post, tagging LV.
In the photos, MBB purses and parts her lips and set the carousel to the song “Dancing Through Life” from the Wicked soundtrack. What should’ve been a fun, fashion-forward post received almost immediate backlash, as commenters began criticizing the 20-year-old’s appearance, claiming that she looked older than she is.
“U look 35 what happened??” wrote one person. “MILLIE WHAT HAPPENEDDDD,” wrote another. Others began accusing Brown of getting plastic surgery and called her appearance “middle-aged.”
The reactions became so intense that on January 1, Brown took to her Instagram Stories to issue a direct response. “Women grow!!” she wrote. “Not sorry about it :)”
