We’re putting the hue’s ongoing popularity down to the looks we loved on the catwalks for SS25. At London Fashion Week we saw Tove vouch for a brighter version of the shade. The label founded in 2019 has shown in just a few years how to make a statement without being OTT. Their green slip was styled with simple white flats and no accessories proving this shade can be the star all on its own. Whilst designers have opted to brighten up earthy greens the traditional sage colourway is a tad darker than mint with definite grey undertone. Not quite as dark as khaki or as yellow-toned as olive, sage is chic and classic but standout-ish enough to bring personality to your bridal party. It also looks beautiful against every skin tone, which is a hard box to tick, and as far as multiway bridesmaid dresses go, it has the most variety as far as we’ve seen.
If you’re looking for sage green bridesmaid dresses for your big day you’ve got lots of options. I can personally vouch for Pretty Lavish’s bridal range. As my bestie’s bridesmaid last year I wore the Piper maxi dress. Her bride squad was asked to wear olive green but the Piper comes in a variety of green colourways, sage included. The satin material has a soft silk feel so it was comfortable all day–from ceremony to dance floor, both equally important ofc. I’m around 5’4 and did have to have a smidge of the length taken off–no one wants to trip walking down the aisle. Otherwise it’s a flattering true-to-size fit.
Top Tip: When it comes to green it’s easy to get confused with the nuances of the colours in your herb garden. Each brand you window shop might categorise a sage, a mint or an olive tone differently to the next. The finish can make a difference too, satin bridesmaid dresses will look softer than a matte chiffon for example. Ask your bride to send a visual reference in the group chat to best colour match. Is she looking for the traditional grey-toned sage or does she want something brighter? I’d recommend flicking through all the colourways before adding to cart.
