Though typically less boisterous than its September counterpart, New York Fashion Week’s Fall Winter season sets the stage for equally chic attendees, if not more bundled in coats, scarves, and any knit you can imagine. “We’re here for the clothes, we’re here to be inspired,” fashion office associate Gabby Cadet tells Teen Vogue after Vettese’s debut runway. But the clothes that draw so many attendees to New York City for one fabled week in February certainly aren’t just those on the models.
Sartorial inspiration flourishes at the CFDA shows and presentations, and it’s equally as strong on the streets and in the after parties, from seasoned editors to newcomers embarking on their fashion week journey. “I’m actually excited for everything,” says model Lin Lin Yujing, since it’s her first NYFW. “I just want to hang around as a tourist,” she beams.
This week’s weather may be unreliable, from rain, winds, and snow to sunshine but the street style? Anything but. Below, catch a glimpse of all the glam and grit beyond the runways of New York this fashion week — lipstick-as-jewelry, unexpected layering, and all.
