Olivia Rodrigo found the trendiest shade of brown lipstick for her Grammys 2025 makeup, making her the latest celeb to approve the milk tea lips look.
The “bad idea right?” singer arrived on the Grammys 2025 red carpet with stunning cut-out, backless black dress from Versace with her long black hair styled in loose curls and her signature cat-eye. This time, however, she swapped out her go-to red lipstick and opted for the hot trend. It’s such a fitting shade, so we just had to know the details.
It turns out the warm peachy brown hue Rodrigo wore is Lancôme’s L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte Buildable Soft Matte Lipstick in the shade “First Kiss.” Rodrigo recently was named an ambassador for the French beauty brand, and she’s been repping it quite well. Case in point: Her latest look has us considering adding the lipstick to our carts.

Two years ago, the viral latte makeup aesthetic brought back bronze and brown makeup shades. Then, Mistine Thai Latte collection also made rounds in 2024 for their rosy brown lipstick shades, bringing us full circle to the milk tea lips trend.

When is milk tea lipstick in style?
The milk tea look makes perfect sense for cold weather season. Since it’s a neutral brown but has a touch of pink undertones, it works well for winter looks. Perhaps that’s why we spotted it so much during recent red carpets and in the front rows of fashion weeks as the weather slowly got colder, and we swapped out our wardrobes.
And while brown lipstick has always been a thing, especially among POC, the trend is just a fun way to spin this distinct shade that’s gaining more and more popularity due to its versatile nature. Somewhere between the concealer lips trend, the bunny tongue trend, and a no-makeup makeup look, the milk tea lips trend offers a bolder but still subtle alternative.
