The jellyfish haircut blew up at the Grammy’s. Now it seems slicked-back buns are taking over the BAFTAs 2025.
Sure, updo’s are a perennial favourite on the red carpet. With their clean, minimal lines, they’re the type of hairstyle that lets a carefully choreographed makeup look doing the talking.
But with not one, not two, but eight celebrities showcasing different iterations of a slicked-back bun at the BAFTAs 2025, it’s also a style to get to grips with for spring. Especially when you consider its other benefits – aka, getting the hair off the back of your neck in warm weather and (whisper it) giving second- or even third-day hair a stylish refresh.
The tools you’ll need to recreate the look at home are hair oil (try Kerastase Elixir Ultime or Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil) or gel, a hair tie to secure your ponytail, some pins and a brush – either a natural bristle brush or a tooth brush – to ensure the hair on the crown lies flat (Larry King’s Flyway Kit is a good all-in-one option).
But if you need more inspiration, here are the best slicked-back buns from the BAFTAs 2025 red carpet.
