Alex Consani has been a very, very busy woman. As expected, the 21-year-old rising model had a standout fashion month. High off the heels of her historic Model of the Year win, our past Teen Vogue cover star has been super strutting down a ton of runways this season.
For many young people, she’s become a beacon of light in an industry that often felt very exclusionary. She’s able to walk in the most notable runway shows while also showing off her unabashed personality online. It’s the best of both worlds.
And while she is grateful for the support she also understand the privilege she still has as a White woman. At our Teen Vogue summit this past November she said: “I have that support from the beginning which is a real privilege. I get to hear the good and bad about what it was like to be trans in this industry. The more I work the more I see the lack of representation we need. It pushes me to work harder. I’m friends with a lot of women who are amazing at their job, but they’re pushed to the side. I’m blessed to be on the stage to talk about it and I’m happy that my voice is being heard when we talk about the need for change.”
