Anya Taylor-Joy will be back on our TV screens soon with Apple TV+ series Lucky, a crime drama produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine. And we now know she’ll be co-starring with Queer star Drew Starkey, and their character’s relationship looks to be rather romantic and intense.
The series’ first look pics see them getting rather close, with their chemistry set against a city skyline. Dreamy. will be based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel of the same name, which is also a pick or Reese’s Book Club.
Both Reese and Anya have spoken out about what making Lucky means to them. “It is incredibly rewarding to be able to amplify these female-centric stories and their authors, see our community connect with them, then see them take on a whole new life on screen,” Reese has said.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Apple TV+ and the incomparable Anya Taylor-Joy, plus our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper and his wonderful co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to bring this compelling series — based on Marissa Stapley’s fantastic novel — to audiences around the world.”

What is Lucky about?
According to Apple’s synopsis, “In Lucky, Taylor-Joy stars as a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”
We don’t know how closely the TV series will adhere to the book’s plot, but we’re hoping it will be a close adaptation because the story is so compelling. Marissa’s novel sees Lucky pull of a million-dollar heist with her boyfriend, only to soon find herself completely alone. Then, when she buys a winning lottery ticket, she has to decide whether to cash it in – as then she will be arrested for her crimes. The novel sees Lucky try and elude capture and go on a journey of self discovery, while still trying to escape her past.
