Katie Holmes just signed off on this butter yellow co-ord for spring 2025

Set at the beautiful Petit Palais, everything on display at Zimmermann’s autumn/winter 2025 showcase was exactly as fans of the brand have come to expect; beautifully detailed, well-styled and full of joy. The much-loved Aussie label, best known for their floaty gowns and laidback elegance, is fast becoming one of the hottest tickets in the fashion capital’s schedule.

Hosting the likes of Pixie Geldof and Rose Byrne alongside latest exclusive ambassador Katie Holmes, there’s no doubt that sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann – who founded the luxury label in Sydney back in 1991 – have found their people. The audience smiled appreciatively as models strutted down the catwalk in tiered, ruffled gowns and relaxed lace dresses. But it was the brand’s recent addition of “masculine” silhouettes that has Katie Holmes most excited.

“I love the flowy-ness of Zimmermann; they play with romanticism in a way that’s very feminine –but recently they’ve added these masculine pieces like this trench coat and trousers that I’m wearing now that I really like,” the actor tells GLAMOUR. A self-professed spontaneous dresser, Katie shares that she pulls together her outfits without much pre-planning, which explains much of her effortless style and relatable appeal.

In case anyone’s wondering what her favourite spots are in Paris, here they are: “I love Jardin de Tuileries, Place des Vosges, and my favourite restaurant is Le Petit Chaise — one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. They have a great chocolate soufflé — I love dessert!”

Speaking of chocolate, Katie carried a delicious Zimmermann bag which everyone at the show was eyeing enviously. “Since spring/summer 2025, leather accessories have been developed even more and the Halcyon bag has been carried over and interpreted in new fabrics like suede,” Nicky Zimmermann tells GLAMOUR. “You can see Katie Holmes and Pixie Geldof wearing the bag and it suits every woman.” A lip (or football) shaped clutch is a particularly exciting style that has landed on the runway this season.

The sun-drenched collection itself was inspired by the 1970s Australian Mystery movie, Picnic at Hanging Rock, a film set in 1900 about a group of female boarding school students who vanish in the desert while on a Valentine’s Day picnic. If the previous collection took its cues from surfboard culture and the turquoise palette of the ocean, the autumn/winter sequel is notably earthier, featuring rust-coloured draped dresses and dark cacao browns.

Nicky is particularly proud of a few details that one may miss at first glance. “There are Valentine’s letters embroidered on the first looks of the collection, and the looks gradually get darker to match the change of atmosphere of the film,” she says.

Other elements of the artistic film filter into the clothes, from maps of Mount Macedon to the pinafores of the school uniforms to riding wear and harem trousers. Starting with layers of sheer organza in ethereal cream or peach hues, a darkness trickles into the pieces through inky blacks or midnight blue, almost like the cold desert night descending on the landscape.

This has always been Zimmermann’s sweet spot – its ability to provide just enough dream-like whimsy to satisfy the sartorial fantasy without ever tipping the balance into saccharine realms, but this season’s styling may have been the brand’s strongest yet.
