Zēphyr
100 Portobello Rd, London W11 2QD
With its prime spot on Portobello Road, Zēphyr [translating to “the west wind” In Greek] has swept in to become a favourite in Notting Hill, offering Greek-inspired cuisine with a modern London touch.
A peaceful spot during the day, with outdoor seating and doors that open up onto the popular street. By evening, it’s buzzy.. a relaxed yet stylish vibe. Sculptural vases and cool glassware adorn the surfaces to give the place character and understated charm.
Warm up with unique aperitifs or the oh so tempting signature cocktails – the names alone quench your thirst; Cocoaiquiri anyone? Folly fizz for the gin-lovers or a Pear-Loma if you love a tequila-based paloma but fancy it with a twist.
The menu recommendation is to choose from the land, the sea, and the soil. With food that is simple but done to perfection; Greek specialities alongside more international options. Think charcoaled meats, crisp octopus, and of course expertly made Greek salad with crumbly feta and juicy tomatoes, drizzled with the finest olive oil.
You mustn’t leave without trying their sweet offering; the crispy and warm Loukoumades (Greek Donuts) served with coffee dulce de leche for dipping are a must.
Charming in its own sweet way, with quiet sophistication – the kind of place where dressing up feels right, but looking like you haven’t tried is key.
Post dinner, the retro-styled basement bar is worth a visit, which gets lively as the night gets later.
Delicious food, even better service, and the perfect setting for those (few and far between) warm summer evenings, Zēphyr is definitely a place you’ll want to visit more than once.
