For a sector of Gen Z, everything is about to change: the first cohort of this generation is about to experience their Saturn Return.
Approximately every 27 to 29.5 years, we experience a Saturn Return, when the planet Saturn returns to the exact sign and degree it was at the time of our birth. When this happens, we can expect a lot of tumult in our lives. Think breakups or new relationships, losing jobs or gaining new ones, uprooting your life and moving — basically anything that throws your life into a little bit of chaos. In our lifetime, we will experience three Saturn Returns: one when we are in our late 20s, another when we are in our mid-50s, and the third when we are in our 80s. Currently, Gen Z are experiencing your first Saturn Return, making your lives topsy turvy as the universe reveals to you your actual paths in life. This cosmic rite of passage helps us to become the people we want to be.
Because this is such a transformational time that leads to uncovering one’s purpose through discovery, you might need help understanding how to cope with the major changes coming your way. The world will throw curveballs, but making the best decisions is up to us. So, here’s how to cope with your life during your Saturn Return (I wrote the book on it, trust me!).
How Saturn Return Will Impact Gen Z
Saturn is in Pisces from March 7, 2023, to May 24, 2025, and then again from September 1, 2025, to February 13, 2026 (due to retrogrades). That means Gen Zers born in the late 90s are being targeted now.
Saturn in Pisces is about setting and maintaining boundaries, honoring intuition, and offering sympathy to universal causes. Humanitarianism and creativity are areas that Saturn in Pisces urges us to focus on, as well as igniting the magic within and committing to a way of thinking.
Saturn moves into Aries on May 24, 2025, remaining there until September 1, 2025, and from February 13, 2026, to April 12, 2028. Saturn in Aries won’t and can’t stop until it conquers and wins, urging Gen Z to boss up and commit to a plan to bring greatness to our world. The caveat is that they must listen to the elders to avoid making the mistakes of previous generations, which might be tough because they’re rebels.
What makes their Saturn Return so auspicious is that Saturn and Neptune unite on February 20, 2026, for the first time in our lifetime, offering those experiencing this affirming cosmic event a fresh start and a new beginning. This will be the first generation to fight for their dreams and attain them. In the process, they’ll augment the world. What does this mean for Gen Z? The Gen Zs experiencing their Saturn Return from now until the end of February 2026 will revolutionize society.
How to Cope During Your Saturn Return
- Learn to accept change
When life get’s wild, it’s normal to feel like you’re losing control. During your Saturn Return, you just have to embrace the chaos. If a job or friendship doesn’t align with your current vibe, break free and start a new endeavor. You might consider going back to school, switching gears, or connecting with people currently at your level. The pals who stay in your life are supposed to be there and are “lifers.” The promotion you get is meant to be. - Lean into the karmic factor.
You get what you give with Saturn. The planet will teach you valuable lessons about your actions if you misbehave. Let’s say you’re cheating on your boo; you might get caught and have a horrible breakup that teaches you never to do that again. What goes around comes around during the Saturn return, so be careful and cognizant of how you treat others. - Do a little magic
Take a brown candle (the color of Saturn) on Saturday (Saturn’s day) and etch your name onto it. Safely light the candle as you think of an intention you aspire to bring into your life and something you wish to release. Manifesting your goals will be especially helpful because working towards a specific desire and hope is essential. - Journal
Journaling is crucial. It’ll allow you to reflect and contemplate your life choices as they come and in the future. That way, you can be more mindful of your actions. By thinking matters out, you’ll be conscious of what your spirit yearns to do. Also, so you can understand the importance of the education Saturn is bringing to you. - Be gentle with yourself
Practice self-care daily. Treat yourself to a gift when something amazing happens. Get the massage or facial without feeling guilty. You deserve to live your best life. - Check out the shadows
Shadow work can be healing if you allow yourself to openly share secrets. Letting emotions out is going to alleviate anxiety, fears, and stress. Prepare yourself to tear down previous methodologies and behaviors that are weighing you down.
