The kid in The Sixth Sense could see dead people, but Jax Taylor? He can smell cocaine. The Valley star recently got candid about the addiction that led him to rehab last summer, and according to him, in true Jax fashion, he had an unconventional way of reflecting on his behavior.
Jax Taylor could find cocaine anywhere “within minutes”
Last month, Jax opened up about his lengthy battle with drug addiction. He dealt with it on and off for nearly twenty years before finally admitting that he had a problem. The worst is behind him, but he recently spoke about some of his low moments during an episode of his podcast, In the Mind of Jax Taylor.
In the April 17 episode, which featured his Vanderpump Rules co-star Tom Schwartz, Jax recalled how easily he could find cocaine. It’s an admission that underscores why he needed to seek professional treatment.
“I had a sixth sense of finding it no matter where we were,” Jax joked. “What state or country we were in, I found it within minutes.”
Just like the viewers at home, Schwartz admitted that he picked up on Jax’s habit over the years. He said his castmate’s “eyes were bulging out of his skull” at some points when filming VPR. Still, Jax reflected on feeling like he “needed” the drug to fuel his shenanigans.
“It got to the point where I needed it to be social,” Jax explained. “It was a social drug for me. Like in the beginning days, in the early days, I did it of course because I like the rise, but towards the end I did it just to stay awake because I would crash around 9 or 10 o’clock.”
These days, Jax is proudly living a sober lifestyle. He told Schwartz that watching Season 2 of The Valley has helped him realize just how far he’s come in the last year.
He continued, “I know where I am at today and I’m okay to look back and be like, man, I was a bad person because I’m a pretty strong person today.”
The Valley airs on Bravo on Tuesdays at 9/8c and streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
