It seems The White Lotus fans aren’t alone in waiting with bated breath to see who gets killed off — so is the series’ star Parker Posey.
The third season of HBO’s hit series is about to come to a close on Sunday, April 6, with fans finally getting the grand reveal that the last two seasons gave in their final episodes: who died? The show, created by Mike White, had its ensemble of characters travel to the White Lotus resort in Thailand this time, as groups of wealthy strangers become entangled with each other throughout their week stay and changed forever by a tragedy that we as an audience are not yet aware of.
Much like previous seasons, the first episode always includes a vague opening scene that lets the audience know that someone has died, before jumping back in time a week to the events that led up to it. The series keeps you roped in to get to that final blow, and it seems like even the cast isn’t sure how it will end.
Parker Posey, who plays wealthy Southern mom Victoria Ratliff whose husband has secretly lost everything due to shady dealings, and whose children have questionable relationships with one another, is just as clueless as the rest of us.
“I forgot who died,” Posey told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was so stressful when I read it. The dark stuff, I blazed through.”
Does this mean that Victoria isn’t the one to be killed in the end? Surely, Posey would remember if her character had died. But she isn’t alone in feeling this way — Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Victoria’s finance bro son, Saxon Ratliff, also has no idea what’s coming.
“I’m just excited to watch the finale with the rest of the world because I actually have no idea what happens,” he said in the same interview.
In the expansive Hollywood Reporter article, the cast and Mike White discuss the filming process and how the show is about to end. Jon Gries, who plays the sketchy Gary/ Greg, said of the ending, “Whatever you think you know, you’re going to get it wrong.”
Charlotte Le Bon, who plays the French-Canadian party girl Chloe, added, “People are going to hate Mike White.”
While we anxiously await the ending, Parker Posey is just happy to be included. The actor said she secured the role on The White Lotus after briefly running into Mike White at Jennifer Coolidge’s Halloween party.
“There’s just such an excitement to this,” Posey said. “People want that. They want that coffee o’clock, ‘Did you see last night’s episode?’ moment. It’s kind of old school. It’s Dynasty. It’s Dallas. And my mom is loving it.”
