Timothee Chalamet considered Met Gala but also wanted to watch Knicks play, says ‘source’
Since the two stars began dating in 2023, Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet have made many public appearances. However, the couple decided to opt out of a joint appearance at the Met Gala 2025 and instead enjoy their time separately. According to the Daily Mail‘s exclusive report, a source revealed that the actor skipped the high-profile event for a boys’ night watching the Knicks game.
The source shared that Chalamet did consider going to the Met Gala 2025, but he chose to watch the Knicks play instead. The insider further revealed that Jenner knew of her boyfriend’s love for the team, which is why she didn’t “bother” him to accompany her. The Kylie Cosmetics founder reportedly “allows” her partner to enjoy his own time. Meanwhile, Chalamet, a well-known Knicks superfan, took to his Instagram Stories to share his experience watching the game as his girlfriend walked the esteemed Met steps.
The source also expressed that Jenner and Chalamet discussed going to the Met Gala 2025 together. However, apart from the Knicks game, the duo didn’t want their appearance to become a “spectacle.” According to the insider, the couple “didn’t want to do the whole song and dance of it all together because it would have felt more like a chore over a fun date night.”
Timothee Chalamet would have accompanied Kylie Jenner if it were her debut Met Gala or if she received an honor. Since it was none of these, they reportedly “decided to do their own thing.” Although the couple missed out on the Met Gala 2025 red carpet debut as a unit, they didn’t leave fans hanging for too long. On May 7, they made their much-awaited red carpet appearance at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome.
