Lizzo reveals she and boyfriend Myke Wright had ‘this crazy bond for years’

Jake Shane was surprised to learn that Lizzo and her current boyfriend, Myke Wright, had a “friends-to-lovers trope.” During an appearance in the latest episode of his podcast, “Therapuss with Jake Shane,” she dished out juicy details about her romance, which started on the foundation of friendship. The singer revealed that she had a platonic relationship with her partner before it turned romantic. Moreover, she claimed she absolutely loves it. After the host insisted she spill the beans, she recalled how she worked on the same TV show with Wright.

“We both worked on this TV show for MTV,” the Grammy-winning artist said, remembering the first time they met on the set of the 2016 television series “Wonderland”. She said she was the “music girl,” while Wright was the “comedy guy.” That’s where their friendship started. Lizzo further shared how she called Wright her “best friend”. She revealed that back then, she “didn’t have any guy friends like that — well, I did because you know I’m in the music industry.” Regardless, the 36-year-old recalled feeling she could “really” communicate with him.

Lizzo disclosed that she and her boyfriend shared “this crazy bond for years” before taking the next step in their relationship. It has been a slow and steady journey ever since for the couple. “I do love that we were friends first,” she stated, explaining how this enabled her and Wright to “talk about anything.” Jumping into the discussion, Shane opined that he is her “best friend” after all, and she responded with an affirmative.

Reportedly, Lizzo and Wright went public with their relationship in April 2022, after Andy Cohen outed them during an interview on “Radio Andy.” The couple also made their red carpet debut that same year. In addition, the pair recently attended the Vanity Fair Oscars Party together in March, where they looked loved up.
