Sha’Carri Richardson Gave the Brooch Trend a Dandy Twist With Her Met Gala Afterparty Look

Prep, punk, and statement accessories: All essentials to Sha’Carri Richardson and her Met Gala afterparty ensemble. A track-and-field star and sartorial aesthete in her own right, the 25-year-old gave Teen Vogue the rundown of her post-Gala look as she got ready for a celebratory evening.

A member of Met Gala 2025’s host committee, and second-time attendee, the athlete wove individuality and a dandy attitude into a monochromatic look, designed by Paris-based fashion label 3.Paradis. “It’s blingy, it’s unique, just like me,” she shares of her black suit adorned by crystal embellishments. She topped the look off with a black baseball cap, tie, and shoes, along with a dainty crystal necklace and tiny tote.

And we can’t forget about her actual look at the Met Gala: A trendy butter yellow, dreamy chiffon-draped Valentino dress, atop a lace lilac bodysuit. But that’s just the start of the coquettish look. An array of chantilly bows were nestled in her long, wavy hair to match the bow detailing of the ensemble that was designed by Creative Director Alessandro Michelle.

And, in both looks of course, she sported her signature, ultra-embellished nails featuring gems, gold accents, and even tiny flower petals, along with a pair of crystal-encrusted heart earrings and bracelet.

“My nails are one of a kind, as always, and continue to show an expression of who I am,” she says.

Richardson pulled everything together with shimmery purple eyeshadow, for an all-around playful get-up, centered on personal style with a flair. It may have been a very rainy evening in Manhattan, though fortunately Richardson brought all the energy and spunk to the blue carpet and beyond.
