KATSEYE ‘Gabriela’ Music Video Has Fans Obsessed: All the Best Memes and Reactions

Happy “Gabriela” day! KATSEYE just dropped “Gabriela,” their latest song and music video, and fans wasted absolutely zero time praising the song and video — and turning clips into memes, of course.

The video opens with a cameo from Jessica Alba as the CEO of “Gabriela Enterprises.” The bandmates are her employees, vying to take over the empire and battling one another for the role. Things get bloody, but the empire eventually goes to someone very unexpected — and it’s not somebody in KATSEYE. (You’ll just have to watch and see.) Some fans compared the over-the-top fighting to telenovelas, or Spanish-language soap operas, while others hoped the song becomes the band’s “Espresso.”

“Gabriela,” KATSEYE’s follow-up to “Gnarly,” is a “Jolene”-esque ode to someone who is trying to take your place, but you’re fighting back. But that’s not all! “It’s a play on confidence and on competition, and it’s just a play on narrow vision,” Sophia previously told Teen Vogue of the song. “Gabriela” is also a reference to fans trying to create competition between the bandmates. “We are playing into the whole thing where we’re competing with each other because the [solo stans] are trying to pit us against each other all the time. It’s kind of us poking fun at that, where we’re telling each other, ‘Hands off! This is my thing,’” Sophia shared. “We can’t do our thing without the other person. It’s six or nothing.”

The song, which was produced by Andrew Watt (Lady Gaga, Jungkook) and John Ryan (Sabrina Carpenter), also has a brief Spanish-language interlude in which Daniela sings a bridge in a beautiful soprano. “The dance for the Spanish section, it’s so pretty,” she told Teen Vogue in the group’s May/June cover story. “There’s a circle of all the girls, and I’m in the center, and all the girls are doing floor work with their legs, and it just looks so pretty. And I get to have my little moment in the center singing my Spanish.”
