The Best Work Dresses If You’ve Been Wondering What To Wear To The Office

There’s nothing more satisfying than slipping into one of the best work dresses and being ready to go and out the door in record time. The thought of having to meticulously put an outfit and accessories together three-four times a week before commuting is a big no-no from us, but work dresses have been somewhat of a solution.

We admit, we do love a blazer and wide-leg trousers combo, plus a crisp white shirt and a smart pair of the best jeans always makes us feel polished… but there is something so enticingly freeing about a one-and-done work dress, especially during the summer months.

As we don’t know exactly what your ‘uniform’ is or whether there is a draconian HR person ready to clamp down on any outlandish outfit choices, our edit of the 21 best work dresses isn’t too wild and borders on the modest. It features long sleeve dresses, short sleeve dresses and sleeveless dresses, plus a mixture of midi, maxi and knee-length styles. There are a couple of prints and a few bold colours for good measure (in case your workplace is creative or more relaxed, too).

While we’re not fond of old fashioned fashion rules, a general guideline is that if you’d wear something to the beach or going ‘out-out’, it’s probably not right for an office. Backless, halter neck or cut-away details might be too risqué, but shorter lengths and deeper necklines shouldn’t be an instant no. Mini-lengths can be worn with winter boots and tights when it gets colder and deep V-necks could be layered over a long-sleeved T-shirt – both easy ways to keep things appropriate.

Whatever your office is like and whatever your personal style, one of our edit of work dresses will definitely, er, work for you.
