Me and a daily Google search for the best summer wedding guest dresses seem to go hand-in-hand at the moment. Alongside my own nuptials in August, I’ve got three weddings to attend and they’re all set to take place in balmy conditions, so finding a cool-but-dressy frock has never been more important.
Spring wedding guest dresses, autumn wedding guest dresses and winter wedding guest dresses have their own array of sticking points, of course, but sourcing one of the best wedding guest dresses that’ll keep one looking flawless in sweltering climes is a totally different ball game. So I’m finding, anyway.
There’s a lot to consider; from steering clear of sweat patches during the day but goosebump-free come the evening, to refraining from being mistaken as the bride in anything that veers too near white, or even avoiding co-ordinating with the bridesmaids. You’d be forgiven for struggling when it comes to striking the perfect balance of glam/not-too-glam/practical.
Plus, of course, we want to actually wear something that feels of-the-moment. For the SS25 season, there’s a lot of focus on bold prints and patterns. Prada, Louis Vuitton and Proenza Schouler made a strong case for stripes; Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, Valentino and Carolina Herrera proved polka dots are back in fashion, and everyone from Emilia Wickstead to Loewe leant into floral frocks – all easy wins for summer wedding guest dressing.
