Season 19 of The Real Housewives of Orange County has been chaotic for Katie Ginella. She is often at the center of the drama. And that has meant that Katie is often on the outs with the cast. While Katie has been fighting with the RHOC ladies, it seemed that Gretchen Rossi and Jennifer Pedranti were a safe space for her. Welp, that all went to hell in a handbasket because Gretchen and Jenn posted a racially insensitive video to social media.

After the clip was deleted, BravoandBlaze shared a copy via Instagram, adding the words, “Stop Asian Hate.” Gretchen stated, “I’m back on Housewives.” Jenn added, “And we’re ready to defend ourselves.” The duo performed martial arts moves at a punching bag, while lip-syncing to Asian voices. Plus, Gretchen seemed to squint her eyes during the clip.
Meanwhile, Katie, who is of Korean descent, spoke to Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, sharing her thoughts about the video. “There’s a very inappropriate video going around where two girls are pretending to fight, squinting their eyes and making Asian faces to Asian sounds,” Katie stated. “It’s very hurtful and inappropriate.” She added, “It’s 2025, and I think we should read the room.”
The insensitive video was a painful reminder for Katie. “You know, I’m the very first Asian American on Orange County. I’m the very first Korean adoptee.” Katie added, “And so being singled out from this cast, it’s all too familiar, the feelings and all that.”
Page Six reached out to Gretchen and Jenn for comment. Jenn had no comment, while Gretchen issued a statement. “The video we made was not directed at Katie and was not meant to be hateful. Once it was addressed to us that it could be taken offensively, we took it down immediately,” Gretchen said.
I guess Katie can take a break from being the villain on RHOC now. Gretchen and Jenn have stepped up.
