Lil Nas X Says He’s “Going to Be OK” After His Recent Arrest

Lil Nas X is going to be OK. After being charged four felonies related to an alleged incident on the streets of Los Angeles on August 21, the artist returned to social media to assure his fans that he’s doing fine after a “terrifying” few days and a weekend in jail.

TMZ reported on Thursday that Lil Nas X was hospitalized after being seen wearing only underwear and cowboy boots while walking down the street in LA. He was later arrested, held in jail for the weekend, then was released on Monday after pleading not guilty to three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, according to the Associated Press. Police allege that Lil Nas X “charged” at them when they approached, the AP reports.

But on August 27, nearly a week after the initial incident, Lil Nas returned to Instagram to reassure fans that he’ll be OK.

“Your girl is going to be OK, y’all,” he said on his Instagram stories. “She’s going to be all right.”

Still the rapper was scared by the incident, calling the whole experience “f*cking terrifying,” with a wary laugh. He didn’t mention what exactly happened, just assured fans that he’ll make it through.

In a video from TMZ, Lil Nas’s father Robert Stafford told reporters that his son was “remorseful” for the incident, and is going to “get the help that he needs.” Reuters reports that police said they suspected the artist was using drugs when he was arrested, and a judge mandated he attend an outpatient drug rehabilitation program as a condition of his release from jail. Lil Nas X’s lawyer, Christy O’Connor, told the judge that there was no evidence of drug use, per Reuters, calling the incident an aberration “in an otherwise productive life.”
