Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation is finally around the corner, and the streamer is finally giving us our first proper look at the long-awaited adaptation.
Based on Emily Henry’s New York Times and IndieBound best-selling romantic novel, the book-to-film adaptation of People We Meet on Vacation was first announced in late 2022. The film was produced by Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Isaac Klausner of Temple Hill Entertainment (Twilight, Turtles All the Way Down) in tandem with 3000 Pictures, as part of Netflix’s streaming deal with Sony, and in association with HarperCollins Publishers.
Directed by Brett Haley — whose name you might recognize from Looking for Alaska, All Together Now, All the Bright Places, Hearts Beat Loud, The Hero, and more — with a script by Yulin Kuang, Amos Vernon, and Nunzio Randazzo, People We Meet on Vacation will surely be an addition to your rom-com watch list.

Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation will follow the same plot as Emily Henry’s 2021 book. As shared by Netflix, the movie’s logline is: “Free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together. The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else — could they actually be the perfect romantic match?”
