Charli XCX Wears a Kansas City Shirt on “SNL” Amid Alleged Taylor Swift Feud

The t-shirt comes just after Swift released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and included a song called “Actually Romantic,” that fans believe is a diss track about Charli XCX. The song comes after the latter wrote a song called “Sympathy is a Knife” from her Brat album, which many believe is about her complicated feelings toward Swift.

It turns out that the shirt actuallt belongs to Role Model, who was seen wearing it in promos for SNL and is likely a nod at his album, Kansas Anymore. Some also pointed out that Max’s Kansas City is a legendary New York City bar and venue where the band The Velvet Underground recorded a live album. Charli has spoken about being a fan of the band, along with the band’s singer and guitarist Lou Reed.

Despite those two factors, that didn’t stop fans from immediately speculating that the shirt was directed at Swift. “CHARLI ON SNL IN A KANSAS CITY SHIRT?!? THE GIRLIES ARE FIGHTING PUBLICLY,” one user on X wrote. “so charli wearing a kansas city shirt on snl tonight was definitely an interesting choice,” another wrote.
