Since the premiere of The White Lotus season 3, many fans are getting the shock of a lifetime when they learn that one of the main characters in the newest season was a key villain from their childhoods.
The first episode of The White Lotus season 3 debuted on Sunday, February 16 with a stacked cast of old and new faces. Natasha Rothwell reprises her role as Belinda Lindsey — a hotel spa manager from the first season of The White Lotus set in Hawaii — and jetsets to Thailand to join Carrie Coon, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Aimee Lou Wood, Sarah Catherine Hook, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, and many more.
But one actor in particular has fans losing it on the internet after they finally put their fingers on where they knew him from. Jason Isaacs plays the role of Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman who brings his family to the White Lotus resort in Thailand and faces some mysterious legal trouble back in the States.
But the British actor whose Southern-American accent has been called into question after just one episode is well-known for playing another dad — one from an iconic book and film series. Back in the 2000s and 2010s, Isaacs played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise, the Death Eater father of Harry’s Slytherin nemesis Draco Malfoy. Viewers are so accustomed to seeing Isaacs wearing his character’s long, platinum-blonde wig that it took some fans a bit longer to recognize who he was without it.
One fan shared a hilarious green screen video on TikTok, issuing a “formal” apology to the creators of Hannah Montana for finding it hard to believe that people couldn’t tell the difference between Hannah and Miley just from a blonde wig… until she watched The White Lotus season 3.
“It took me almost the entirety of the first episode of season 3 of White Lotus to realize that that was Jason Isaacs,” user @Briannisss said in a video. “I was a fervent believer that there was no way that people wouldn’t know that was [Miley] just because she had on a blonde wig, but after being duped for the 100th time, and not realizing that was Jason Isaacs without his blonde bussdown, I can now [confirm] that that could actually happen.”
