Marissa Bode has had a whirlwind year. The 24-year-old actress starred in the hit Broadway musical turned blockbuster musical Wicked. Bode plays Nessarose Thropp in the film. Nessa is Elphaba’s (played by Cynthia Erivo) younger sister who is originally set to be the only one attending Shiz University. Bode also made history being the first actress to play the role that is disabled in real life too, showing the importance of representation.
After what has been a breakout moment for the young actor’s career, we caught up with the Wicked star to chat about her beauty routine and what her preparation for the Oscars 2025 looked like.

Marissa Bode: I had previously worn an absolutely stunning red dress and realized how much I loved wearing the color. I wanted to give red a really grand moment at such a grand event.
TV: How involved are you in choosing your outfit and accessories for the night? Do you work with a stylist or prefer to pick things out yourself?
MB: I’ve always loved fashion and expressing myself through fashion. Going to all these events and award shows has helped open my mind and experiment with my own personal style — particularly in the sense of formal dress. Working with my stylist Ali Mandelkorn who has such a good eye for things that I may not have even thought to try on has been a fun and collaborative learning experience.

TV: What are some must-have beauty or grooming products you swear by before a big night like this?
MB: Using the right foundation is key and my must-have for tonight’s look is the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 8! It feels amazing on my skin and gives me the perfect amount of glow. The Armani Beauty Lip Power Lipstick in 400 was also the perfect red to complement my dress, I love how vibrant the shade is and the formula is extremely comfortable on my lips. For skin prep, I love face masks! Particularly ones that are moisturizing that’ll give that extra glow. Also I looove Paula’s Choice. Everyday, I and my skin thank Miss Paula for all the choices she‘s made.

TV: Who is the go to person you FaceTime before heading out the door to check out your final look?
MB: My partner! She also has a very artistic eye and we have similar fashion styles. So I always love to hear her thoughts. She’s also one of my biggest hype people. To give me that extra confidence on days that I could use it.
