After a sweaty workout class, I do not wish to be perceived. That is, until I tried the Make Up For Ever Super Boost Skin Tint and lip gloss. Let me set the scene: More often than not, the neat braid I walked in with leaves a mess, and whatever makeup I was sporting has transferred over to a gym towel. So you can imagine my disbelief after a recent workout where I peered into the studio’s mirror to see that my face not only stayed intact but actually looked… good?
No, it wasn’t because I conveniently timed a breather during burpees or was sweating less than usual: I had Make Up For Ever’s latest release to thank for my flawless complexion. The Super Boost Collection is a new line consisting of 18 buildable skin tints accompanied by 11 lip glosses, infused with ingredients like polyglutamic and hyaluronic acids, with a focus on hydration and long lasting wear. TL;DR: It was my life hack to looking like I had it together, no matter what came my way.
The collection follows the growing beauty trend of fusing makeup and skincare, making it a great option for folks who don’t have time for midday touch ups and extensive skincare routines. While I typically like to take claims at face value, I know seeing is believing, and couldn’t help but get in the ring myself. Make Up For Ever’s launch event—complete with a sweaty, high-intensity kicking boxing class—was the perfect place to do it.
I don’t typically stray outside my typical foundation, but with a 72 hour hydration claim, and arriving an hour before the class started, I sat myself in the makeup artist’s chair, stationed outside of the studio. She gasped at how close of a match the product was to my actual skin. When she handed me the mirror, foundation swatched on my face, I couldn’t tell where the product began and my skin had started. The product seamlessly blended in, and I was left with a “my skin but better” base—the finished product evening out my skin complexion but not pigmented enough to completely conceal my favorite features like my freckles and beauty marks.
Next, it was on to a lip, a task I usually streamline with a tint that lasts me a few days. Can you tell that I’m a maximum impact, minimal effort kind of beauty lover yet? The artist used an iridescent lilac shade on me which was also a bit outside of my comfort zone, but warranted a lot of compliments as I floated around the space before the class. Compliments aside, my type A Taurus brain kicked into practicality mode and I wondered if my hair would stick to my lip gloss with all that jumping around and get in the way of a good workout!

Before I knew it, there was no time left for second-guessing—it was time for the main event: the boxing class that would truly put the products to the test. I threw on my gloves, got in front of my bag, and started throwing uppercuts, jabs, and hooks. I jumped, dodged, and squatted my way through 50 minutes of fast-paced movement. Thinking back on it now, I must’ve moved in every direction possible. But the one thing that didn’t budge? My Make Up For Ever Super Boost Skin Tint. During the class, I noticed there was less product transfer on my towel than usual and was relieved to not see a foundation imprint on the workout mat during the cool-down stretch.

Similarly, the lip gloss left minimal marks on my water bottle and, to my surprise, did not stick to my hair. I’m not a lip gloss expert by any means, but should I ever convert, I definitely would not hesitate to wear this product on a windy day with my hair down. As for the hydration claim? It was a definite yes for the lip gloss and my previously chapped pout looked glossy and hydrated immediately after application and stayed like that hours in. When it comes to the foundation, It’s difficult to tell after just one wear, but the product sat comfortably on my eczema prone skin, sans dry patches that appear with wear, so I’d say it’s pretty promising.
