Addison Rae is always at the top of our style and beauty inspo lists. The rising pop star is known for showing off her eclectic and very Y2K-leaning aesthetic. And now she’s leaned into a very popular hair color: insert butterscotch blonde.
Recently, the TikTok sensation debuted this vibrant color on her Instagram. Known for her effortlessly cool vibe, Rae’s transformation into a buttery, sun-kissed blonde couldn’t have come at a better time. The shade, which blends soft golden and honey tones, is a fresh yet familiar take on blonde. It brings out the glow in her skin and gives your hair a multi-dimensional, glossy finish that screams summer-ready. And now that spring is slowly entering the conversation, it’s the perfect time to ditch icy blonde and go warm with some butterscotch.
What makes butterscotch blonde the perfect color for the warmer months is its versatility. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or attending a rooftop party, the color shines in all the right ways. And stars like Addison Rae and Millie Bobby Brown are already taking notes. It’s rich without being too heavy, offering a warm, flattering glow that complements both sun-kissed skin and cool, bronzed makeup looks.
We spoke to expert hairstylist Noelle “Red” Denney to learn how you, too, can go butterscotch blonde this spring like the celebs.

Why is “Butterscotch Blonde” becoming a popular hair color at the moment?
Noelle Denney: 2025 is all about gold. Think jewelry, clothes, accessories — and hair’s the ultimate accessory! After years of ashy tones bringing a darker, cooler feel, clients are craving brighter, lived-in blondes like butterscotch. What I love about golden shades, especially butterscotch, is how they catch the light and add this warm, radiant glow. Danger Jones has been my go-to for nailing this trend. A number of the Gloss Toners, such as 10-03, 10-32, and 9-3, with their rich golden vibes, make it so easy to create that perfect balance.
What steps can someone take at home when trying to obtain a butterscotch blonde color?
ND: First off, anyone chasing a specific blonde-like butterscotch should chat with their stylist. Every head of hair is different, and what works for me might not work for them. That said, I’m a huge believer in prepping with hydration: deep conditioning masks, leave-in conditioners, and a good hair oil are my staples. They keep the hair strong and moisturized before lightening, which is key. I really like the Powder Lightener because it has built-in bonder that adds an extra layer of protection during the process, so the hair stays healthy while lifting to that golden glow.
