Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva have reportedly been living their best life in Spain with their sons. Opening up about his new life in the foreign land, Gere gushed about his wife, proudly confessing that she was happy in her home country. The Golden Globe winner exclusively spoke to Page Six at the City Harvest Annual Gala in New York City. He said, “My wife is so happy there.”
Gere added, “Her family is there, her culture is there, [our] youngest kids are growing up there.” The actor further gushed, “Their Spanish is perfect,” suggesting satisfaction with his current stationing. When asked about the quote “Happy wife, happy life,” Gere responded, “Yeah, I wanted you to say that, not me,” letting on a grin.
The “Arbitrage” actor appeared on “The Tonight Show,” describing his wife’s familial background to Jimmy Fallon. Gere revealed, “My wife is Spanish and she gave me about seven years here.” He added, “We’re going to spend some years in Madrid,” explaining his move to Spain. Gere added insight into Silva’s background, detailing how she grew up in a large Spanish family.
According to Gere, the Spanish political activist’s grandmother was “kind of the glue that held it all together.” Hence, after her grandmother’s passing, Silva stepped into her role. Gere jested, “She [Silva] is already planning for 35 people for Sunday lunches,” suggesting she preferred a gathering. The couple began dating in 2014 and tied the knot in 2018. They welcomed their second son in 2020 while raising their firstborn and sons from their previous marriages.
As the couple continues to blend family ties and grow together, they ensure to participate in philanthropic events, including the City Harvest Event. Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva arrived at the event with the former’s son Homer and raised 8.5 million meals for New Yorkers in need.
