On Saturday, September 6, several thousand protesters took to the streets in Washington, DC, and Chicago, Illinois, over the Trump administration’s ICE policies, deployment of the National Guard to the former, and threat of deployment to the latter.
Protesters traveled into DC from out of town to join the “We Are All DC” March, coordinated in part by the community organization Free DC and the American Civil Liberties Union, in what the Washington Post called “one of the first major organized protests since President Donald Trump deployed federal troops to the nation’s capital.”

There have been over 2,000 National Guard troops deployed into DC from other states, and it is unclear when they will clear out, according to Reuters. Last week, DC’s Attorney General filed a lawsuit against the National Guard deployment. Protesters held signs calling for an “end to the occupation” of the city.
