Meryl Streep & Stanley Tucci Attend Dolce & Gabbana Show as Their Devil Wears Prada 2 Characters

Nobody makes a grand entrance quite like the fictional legend of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Miranda Priestly, played by the equally legendary Meryl Streep. The actor — along with co-stars Stanley Tucci and Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley — made a surprise appearance fully in character as the feared but respected editor-in-chief of Runway magazine at the Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan. Can you please spell Gabbana…?

The actors were in their fictional form as they attended the controversial brand’s real Milan Fashion Week show on September 27 — likely as part of filming for the highly anticipated sequel. Tucci arrived as Nigel, the magazine’s art director extraordinaire (did he ever get that promotion after all this time?). Ashley was also in the zone as a new character, although details on who she might be in the film (possibly a new assistant) have been kept under wraps.

Everything Anne Hathaway Has Worn on Set of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ So Far

That’s all…

As the three actors arrived last to the crowd of anxious fashion onlookers, video from the event showed the audience erupting into applause as Streep/Priestley made her way to her front-and-center seat, silver wig and all, and sat next to supermodel icon Naomi Campbell. The three actors wore head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana, complete with sunglasses, and spoke to each other as dozens of photos and videos captured them at the show.

It’s unclear how the fashion show will be incorporated into The Devil Wears Prada 2, or why they chose Dolce & Gabbana as their runway backdrop, seeing as the brand has a history of controversy throughout the years. The Italian brand came under fire in 2018 after a series of since-pulled racist ads that showcased Asian stereotypes, along with resurfaced comments from Stefano Gabbana saying that Chinese people eat dogs and calling “superiority” or China “stupid.” But even before that, the brand and its designers have a long history of problematic moments.

We’re also not sure why The Devil Wears Prada 2 didn’t film at, well, a Prada show, but perhaps this is a callback to Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) answering the office phone in the first film and asking how to spell Gabbana.

20 years after its release, the movie’s sequel made its way back to the streets of New York City this summer, and essentially gave fans an exclusive look at what everyone is wearing and who is involved. The star-studded cast brings back Hathaway, of course, along with Emily Blunt’s character Emily, and adds on new actors including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Caleb Hearon, and Pauline Chalamet. **The sequel is slated to come out on May 1, 2026. **
