Maitreyi Ramakrishnan attended Vogue World 2026 and nailed the theme, all while spotlighting South Asian fashion. Taking place in Los Angeles on Sunday night, Vogue World was all about highlighting Hollywood glamour and film through a fashion lens, and Ramakrishnan put her own twist on classic silver screen style. “I felt so beautiful tonight in this outfit. This look honed in on classic Hollywood silhouettes but was elevated by the amazing fabrics and craftsmanship of India,” Ramakrishnan tells Teen Vogue after the event.
Sitting in the front row, she wore a tea-length dress with an intricately beaded corset and a floral brocade skirt. The dress, designed by Manish Malhotra, also featured a ghunghat, which she wore over her head for parts of the evening.
“Getting to wear custom Manish Malhotra felt like a dream collaboration for this event to highlight both the work of fashion designers and costume designers,” she explains. “We wanted to create a timeless Hollywood look while also finding an effortless bridge to South Asian fashion.”
The event was truly one of a kind – mixing costume design, celebrity, and fashion in a new and exciting way. “It truly was my favorite fashion event I have been to. The show made me feel so proud and grateful to be an actor that is a small part of Hollywood,” Maitreyi Ramakrishnan says. “Getting to see iconic looks throughout the history of film and TV shows the large impact that good storytelling has on the world.”
