Paris Jackson Reveals What Drugs Did to Her

Paris Jackson is getting honest about the long-term impact of her past drug use, revealing that it permanently damaged her nasal passage. “I realized I never addressed this, and it can sometimes be very noticeable,” Paris said in the clip. “I have a really loud whistle because you can hear it when I breathe through my nose, and that’s because I have what’s called a perforated septum.” Holding a light up to her nose, she demonstrated the hollow cavity inside, clarifying that a perforated septum is “slightly different” from a deviated septum.

Paris didn’t shy away from addressing how it happened. “It’s exactly where you think it’s from,” she admitted, referring to her history of drug use. “Don’t do drugs, kids,” she warned before adding with self-awareness, “Or do — I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. I don’t recommend it, because it ruined my life.”

The musician and model explained that she has been living with the condition since she was “about 20 years old.” Although the issue isn’t life-threatening, she shared that it can be stressful, especially when recording music.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a perforated septum is a hole in the cartilage or bone that separates the nostrils. The condition can cause difficulty breathing, whistling sounds, and visible dips in the bridge of the nose. Common causes include injuries, infections, chemical exposure, autoimmune diseases, and drug misuse.

Treatment options range from ointments and saline rinses to surgical repair, though the condition can persist if left untreated. Paris made it clear she has no plans to undergo surgery to fix her nose. “I’m almost six years sober,” she said. “You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly, and I don’t want to f**k with that.”
