Welcome to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15, Episode 1 recap. The diamonds are back in action! At the reunion last season, Sutton and Dorit experienced no resolution, while Kyle opened up about what led to her separation from her husband, Mauricio Umansky.
And Garcelle Beauvais stormed off-stage, refusing to pose for the group photo. Here’s what happened in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15 Episode 1: “Hot Girl Summer.”
What happened in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15 Episode 1?
Dorit was ready for a Hot Girl Summer after filing for divorce from PK Kemsley. Meanwhile, Sutton is navigating the loss of her friendship with Garcelle and her former Manager of Operations, Avi Gabay. And newbie Rachel Zoe met the ladies and bonded with Dorit.
Dorit details filing for divorce in RHOBH
Dorit visited Boz and dished about filing for divorce from PK. Apparently, Dorit and Boz are tight now. Meanwhile, Boz was not happy about the photo of PK kissing a woman on the street in Los Angeles. In her confessional, Boz admitted that when she saw the photo, “First, I rolled my eyes. Then I threw up a little.” Same.
For Dorit, that was a pivotal moment. “I felt like, ‘That’s it! That man there on the street? I don’t know him,’” she told Boz. She admitted that she filed for divorce the same day. “I used to do a lot to protect him. I know he’s a master of his own disaster,” Dorit added.
Special shout-out to Reality Tea’s headline cameo! Right now, PK is fighting Dorit for joint custody of their two children. “Publicly, he wants to save face,” Dorit said in her confessional.
After the news dropped, Kyle messaged her “four days later.” Dorit added, “Have I felt that she is with me? No.” Kyle’s reaction disappointed Dorit since the duo seemed to be mending their relationship at the reunion.
Kyle is planning her daughter’s wedding
Both of Kyle and Mauricio’s daughters, Portia and Sophia, still live at home with Kyle. Meanwhile, Mauricio traded his condo for a rented house in Beverly Hills. Finally, Farrah and Alexia, the bride-to-be, joined the trio.
Alexia is engaged to Jake Zingerman, and wedding planning is underway. Alexia’s wedding theme is “a surreal starlit dinner in an artist’s garden.” That sounds beautiful. Of course, Alexia will be the first of Kyle’s daughters to walk down the aisle, so Kyle is thrilled.
However, the former duo’s daughters were annoyed with Mauricio’s antics. When paparazzi photos surfaced of Mauricio with a girl “at the valet,” Sophia wasn’t happy. She told the group that she texted him, “‘You are doing the absolute most. You can tone it down.’”
So, how does Kyle feel about the various photos of Mau? “I’m a little desensitized now, unfortunately,” she said. “I just wish that he would be a little more discreet.” Oh, don’t we all.
Meet Rachel Zoe!
In addition, fans were introduced to newbie housewife Rachel Zoe. She popped by to visit her longtime friend, Kathy Hilton, and help her pack for a trip. Rachel was previously part of the Bravo family with her show, The Rachel Zoe Project.
In her confessional, Rachel explained how Tommy Hilfiger gave her a freelance job as a stylist. She started out styling Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys, then moved up to styling actress Jennifer Garner for a red carpet. And her career took off from there. Eventually, she started a clothing line and a media business.
In addition, Rachel has two sons, Skyler and Kaius. She filed for divorce from Rodger Berman. The couple had been married for 26 years. “At the end of the day, I think we’ve outgrown each other,” Rachel told Kathy.
Rachel said in her confessional that her relationship with Rodger is “strained.” She added that her “greatest regret” about her marriage was “working together.” In the end, Rachel felt that Rodger became “unrecognizable,” and “ultimately that person didn’t feel right around me or around my kids.” Rachel added that her sons’ relationship with their father is “a little tricky.”
According to Rachel, Rodger has been dating the same woman “for a year.” When a producer asked, “That means he got a girlfriend right after you guys separated?” Rachel replied, “I’ll let you do the math.” Oof.
Reba returns in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Sutton’s mother, Reba, was in town for Sutton’s son James’ high school graduation. Her relationship with her mother is the best it’s ever been. So, Kyle and Erika came over for an elegant lunch. When Kyle asked about Avi, Sutton’s former Manager of Operations, Sutton stated that she “let him go.” In her confessional, Sutton explained she had known Avi for a long time. “To me, Avi was a close friend.” She told the ladies that while she thought they parted on good terms, “things get complicated.”
Of course, that opened the door to discuss the falling out between Garcelle and Sutton. Both Erika and Kyle were confused about what went down. Since Garcelle won’t speak to Sutton, she doesn’t understand what happened.
Then, Kathy arrived. During lunch, Sutton shared that her ex-husband, Christian Stracke, requested that their marriage be annulled. And his petition was granted. In her confessional, Sutton revealed that her ex-husband asked for the annulment because “he thought that this would make us become better friends.”
However, when the letter arrived, it was addressed to “Sutton Brown.” Everyone felt that this was disrespectful, and Sutton noted in her confessional that she felt the whole situation was a control tactic. Then the next topic was Dorit filing for divorce from PK. Sutton felt that the photo of PK kissing the woman “was probably intentional,” and added, “I think PK’s going to be really nasty.”
Kyle chimed in and said, “He didn’t know that picture was being taken.” Interesting! So, Sutton asked if Kyle still talked with PK. “I have not spoken to PK,” Kyle replied. However, when Sutton asked if she “severed ties,” the RHOBH OG responded, “No.”
Erika insults a cast member in RHOBH
Boz and Erika went to dinner. Right before she took the stage for the Mighty Hoopla Festival, Erika’s phone blew up. Her estranged husband, Tom Girardi, was sentenced to jail time. “Certainly, Tom’s story is ending. Mine is still ongoing,” Erika said in her confessional. She wondered about “saying goodbye,” but wasn’t sure that would give her closure.
Then the ladies discussed Sutton’s behavior last season. “Will the real Slim Sutton please stand up?” Bozoma quipped. “I don’t know if ‘slim’ is the word … box,” Erika replied. Yikes!
Then it was time for Kyle’s Summer Solstice party. Bring on the flower crowns! Erika wore what looked like pajamas instead of a sundress. When Boz asked Sutton what happened with Garcelle, she responded, “I don’t know.” Sutton admitted in her confessional that the last time she saw Garcelle was at the Season 14 RHOBH reunion. “I texted again, and again, and again. She did not text back,” she said.
So, Dorit asked Sutton if Garcelle felt like their relationship was “more of an alliance” than a friendship. Sutton replied, “I have a hard time believing that.” Sutton stated in her confessional, “I loved Garcelle. We were best friends.” Cue the flashbacks of their best moments together. I’m sad that this friendship is over.
Rachel makes an impression in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Then, Kathy and Rachel arrived. While Kyle has “known” Rachel socially, she doesn’t “know her well.” During dinner, Rachel opened up about her separation from Rodger. “I don’t think anyone should stay together who isn’t happy,” Rachel told the RHOBH ladies. “Kids want parents who love them. Not parents who don’t love each other.”
Last season, Dorit resisted telling her kids about her separation from PK. Now she admitted that since filing for divorce, she hasn’t told them the news. Then, the conversation shifted to, as Rachel so eloquently put it, PK “running around with girls.” I love how Rachel has no filter.
Then, Rachel turned her attention to Kyle. “I saw Mau in Aspen,” Rachel said. “Someone tried to set me up with him. I was like, ‘That’s Kyle’s ex-husband. No!’”
Meanwhile, Dorit blamed PK’s behavior on Mauricio. She claimed that Mauricio’s roving lips inspired PK’s behavior. However, Erika said in her confessional, “PK is a world-class partier. Mau is like in the kindergarten soccer league, and PK is winning the premier league.” Do tell!
Then, Rachel told Dorit, “You don’t want to be with a narcissist. Honestly, if it didn’t happen now, it was going to happen in five years.” WOW. “Does anyone else want to have a Hot Girl Summer?” Rachel asked. Dorit does! Meanwhile, Kyle isn’t sure about the definition of a Hot Girl Summer. Lordy!
