Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up in 2023 after six years together, and while some people are still hung up on their relationship, the English actor is most definitely not.
In a new interview with The Guardian, Alwyn was asked about parting ways with his ex-partner and, seeing as their names still often appear next to each other, whether or not he feels a desire to “move on,” which he resolutely admitted he has already done — and wishes everyone else would do, too.
“That’s something for other people to do,” Alwyn replied when posed the question. “We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life. So that’s for other people. That’s what I feel.”

In the same interview, Alwyn was also asked if “his relationship with Swift would overshadow his career,” and the actor stuck to cryptic but revelatory response.
“I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control,” Alwyn replied. “Right from the beginning, [I] tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course. So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it. If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty f*cked.”
Alwyn’s new rare comments on moving on from his relationship with Swift come months after the star discussed their breakup at length in an interview with The Sunday Times. “I understand people’s curiosity,” he said at the time, adding that he “would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years.”
